Sending love, hats and gloves this Christmas
Sweep aside the presents, battle your way though the fairy lights, and you get to the heart of Christmas – spending time with the people you love best, giving thanks for your blessings. Because we all know how lucky we are to be able to do this, this December the Storycatching team – co-ordinated by Chief Elf Hayley – raised £150 for the lovely people at Crackers & Company.
This local community project, based in South Anston, runs a Christmas dinner on Christmas Day for people who would otherwise be alone or struggle to feed their family. The group is run by volunteers who fundraise all year round – on 25 December, the team take over South Anston Methodist Church and put on a communal feast to remember, with brilliant company, a home cooked dinner with all the trimmings and a bag of gifts.
Crackers & Company create an online shopping list of items they need and rely on the kindness and generosity of the community to deliver it. We’ll be donating 38 pairs of thermal gloves and 38 warm woolly hats, to help keep vulnerable people in the area warm. From everyone here, we’d like to extend our love to those everywhere who are feeling lonely at this time of year.
