Privacy policy
This privacy policy outlines how Storycatchers will collect, use and protect any personal information you give us, and the very few circumstances in which we will pass information on to other people.
Safety first
No one likes to feel vulnerable, so we’re committed to making sure that your privacy is protected and your information is secure. If we ask you to share information that could identify you, you can be confident that it will only be used in accordance with this policy for the purpose it was intended, and be assured that we have robust, Cyber Essentials-accredited IT systems and procedures in place to safeguard your information and prevent unauthorised access or disclosure.
GDPR is not a 4‑letter word
The recently introduced GDPR framework is a brilliant opportunity for businesses to demonstrate to customers that they can be trusted with their personal information. In accordance with this, we promise to:
process all personal data fairly and lawfully
only process personal data for specified and lawful purposes
endeavour to ensure that the personal data we hold is relevant and accurate and, where practical, up to date
not keep personal data for longer than is necessary
keep all personal data secure
ensure that personal data is not transferred to countries outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) without adequate protection.
GDPR is a living, breathing, ongoing process, not a ‘tick box and move on’ compliance exercise, and as such, we are constantly seeking to improve upon our practices. Here’s where we’re at as of 8 August 2024 – we have:
a Data Protection Officer to oversee our practices and handle any questions: Stuart Davies
undertaken a review of the personal data we store, manage, maintain, collect, process and control
undertaken a review of the methods we use to obtain and record consent, to make sure we can evidence affirmative opt-in and make it easy to opt-out
created a GDPR-compliant Privacy Policy (you’re reading it right now…), a Data Protection Policy, a Data Classification Policy, an Information Security Policy and a Subject Access Request Policy. If you’re interested in reading any of these, contact us here .
adopted ICO measures to identify, investigate and report a personal data breach
introduced a Security Awareness training programme to let all Storycatchers know about their responsibilities to security and GDPR, and included this in our new starter induction programme.
The information we gather and track, and what we do with it
You don’t have to tell us who you are or share any information about yourself to visit this website.
We may invite you to share information with us though – to contact you about something you’re particularly interested in perhaps, or to send you regular updates on our products and services. If you give us your contact details for a specific reason, we’ll only use them for that reason.
We also gather and track information using cookies.
Cookies – and how we use them
A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device so that our website can remember some of your onsite browsing behaviour. The cookie will collect information on how you used our site including the time of day, information about your device including its IP address and browser type, demographic data and, if you arrived here by clicking on a link on a third party site, the URL of that third party.
We use this information to improve your experience on our site, but please be assured it’s completely anonymous – we don’t match cookie data to any personal information.
If cookies concern you, you can set your browser to notify you when you receive one, so you can decide whether or not you want to accept it.
Sharing your information with third parties
We don’t do it – Storycatchers will never sell or share personal information with third parties. The only time we’ll pass your information on is if we are required by law enforcement officials – so keep it clean, or don’t get caught…
Accessing your personal information
The nature of our business means we hold very limited personal information on our customers, contacts and suppliers – but you are entitled to view, amend, export or delete the lot of it. If you want to go off-radar or see the information we hold on you, contact us here .
Links to other websites
Our website contains links to other websites – you should be aware that if you click on one of these links and leave our site, we have no control over their content or practices. Their websites aren’t covered by our privacy policy and we can’t be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information you give them. If privacy issues concern you, make sure you check out their privacy statement too.
Changes to our Privacy Notice
Our privacy policy was last reviewed on 8 August 2024. Storycatchers reserves the right to make changes to this privacy policy at any time. We’ll let you know of any changes by giving notice on this page and/or – if technically possible and legally allowable – sending a notice to users using the contact information we hold.
Should the changes affect any of the processing activities you’ve given us permission to carry out, we will collect new consent from you, where required.
